Is ChatGPT giving out the wrong hours or prices for your business?
Want to see what ChatGPT, Perplexity and Gemini say when a buyer asks about your kind of business? Run the free check. It takes 1-2 minutes, no sign-up.
Small business owners keep finding the same thing: when they ask ChatGPT about their own business, some of the answer is wrong. One owner on r/smallbusiness reported "wrong services, outdated data, pricings." Another noticed Google's AI overview pulling a business detail from an old forum post that wasn't true anymore.
AI assistants don't call you to confirm. They repeat what they find on the web, and an old page can win over your current one.
Check it yourself (10 minutes)
Ask ChatGPT, Perplexity and Gemini, in a fresh chat:
- "What are [your business]'s hours?"
- "How much does [your business] charge for [your main service]?"
- "What services does [your business] offer in [your city]?"
Write down every answer that's wrong, and any source link the AI shows. Perplexity usually lists its sources, so it's the fastest way to find which page is causing the problem.
Fix it at the source
- Google Business Profile first. Set your main hours, and set special hours for holidays, so Google never has to guess. Google's edit guide covers hours, closures and services.
- Put the facts on your own site in plain words. One line each for hours, service area and starting prices (or "free quotes, call for pricing"). If the facts are only in an image, a search engine may not read them.
- Fix or remove old pages. Old promo pages, outdated price lists and old directory listings are common culprits. Update the ones you control.
- Match everywhere. Yelp, Facebook, Apple Maps and industry directories should say the same thing as your site.
- Re-check in a few weeks. AI answers change from day to day, so one check is a sample, not a verdict.
If you run a trade, our AC repair walkthrough shows the same check for "who should I call" questions.
Wrong facts are one problem. Not being named at all is the other. The free check asks 3 buyer questions in all three AIs and shows who gets named instead of you.
